EU citizens and EFTA states

Purpose of immigration: Study

If you come from a country of the European Union or the EFTA states, you can take up any degree programme in Brandenburg.

A wide range of study opportunities await you in Brandenburg. To be able to study in Germany, you need a school-leaving certificate that qualifies you to study (higher education entrance qualification). As an EU citizen, you can also enter Germany without a visa due to the freedom of movement. You only need a valid identity card or comparable proof of identity to enter the country. The same applies if you are a citizen of Liechtenstein, Iceland, Norway or Switzerland. Brandenburg is home to the ESiSt network, which aims to facilitate access to the network's universities for prospective international students. To this end, the 8 participating universities offer language and specialised courses that conclude with a university entrance examination. If you pass the exam, you can apply for a degree programme in the field of study.  Incidentally, it is also possible to do a dual study programme in Brandenburg! A dual study programme combines a university degree with practical training in a company. You can find out more about this in our skilled labour portal. You can also contact the International Office of your chosen university directly.
