Job description

Ph.D. Opportunities: Translational Research in Orthodontics!

With the new Orthodontics Clinic, the Brandenburg Medical School is expanding its clinical and academic offerings to include a dedicated orthodontics department. This creates a modern environment in which patient care, the training of the next generation of dental professionals, and scientific advancement are closely intertwined. Would you like to advance scientific knowledge and help shape innovative approaches in dentistry? Then contribute your ideas to our translational research and help further develop our research infrastructure!

As a Research Assistant/Doctoral Candidate (m/f/d) in Orthodontics | Translational Research

Start Date: January 1, 2027
Workload: Part-time, 20 hours per week
Employment: Fixed-term for 36 months
Work Location: Brandenburg an der Havel—at Germany’s most modern university dental hospital!

The Brandenburg Medical University (MHB) is a state-recognized, municipally funded university with a special focus on practice-oriented teaching, innovative research, and the training of the next generation of physicians and psychologists. In close collaboration with our affiliated hospitals, we combine scientific excellence with modern patient care and are actively shaping the future of medicine in Brandenburg and beyond!

With the opening of our University Dental Clinic on August 3, 2026, we have expanded our range of patient care, teaching, and research services. The state’s first university dental clinic has been established in the historic, listed former power plant in Brandenburg an der Havel. The clinic offers fully digitally equipped treatment stations and will be gradually expanded to approximately 40 treatment units. In addition to general dental care, the clinic provides specialized consultations for people with dental anxiety and oral mucosal diseases, as well as sleep dentistry and mobile care.
The university clinic is the heart and center of our Brandenburg Model Dental Medicine Program, which we introduced in 2024 as the first program of its kind in the state. Each year, 48 students begin the program and, starting in their seventh semester, begin treating their own patients under professional supervision.
