The railway industry and modern railway technologies
In January 2017, the go-ahead was given for a multi-million infrastructure project on a site covering approximately 25 hectares at the 110-year-old Wustermark marshalling yard. With the support of Havelländische Eisenbahn AG, the Havelland district is developing a centre for the railway industry and modern railway technologies, funded by the federal government and the state of Brandenburg as part of the joint programme: ‘Improvement of Regional Economic Infrastructure’ – GRW Infrastructure.
BTC Havelland GmbH, commissioned to lead the development, is revitalising the historic site of the marshalling yard and bringing together rail-related businesses and educational institutions with research and scientific organisations.
Digitalisation, automation, recruitment of skilled workers – key issues shaping the rail industry – the possibilities and opportunities offered by the Havelland Rail Technology Campus, arising from the collaboration with Havelländische Eisenbahn and the Rail & Logistics Centre Wustermark, extend far beyond the Havelland region.

Rail Day
Making the rail industry transparent. Highlighting the many aspects of modernisation. Clearly demonstrating what is happening where in the rail sector and who the experts are who are creating a climate-friendly future for mobility in rail vehicle manufacturing, infrastructure and rail operations. As part of the nationwide ‘Rail Day’, companies associated with the BTC Havelland offer opportunities every September to experience the industry and the companies’ needs at first hand.
