During our visit to DACHSER SE, we were able to experience what modern logistics is really all about: an impressive interplay of precision, teamwork and genuine passion. After just a few minutes, it became clear that the focus here is not just on processes and technology, but above all on the people who bring them to life every day.
This impression is also reflected in the company's guiding principle: "Logistics is People Business". It makes it clear that the employees are the decisive factor for the company's success. A look at the company's history shows the consistent growth of DACHSER SE: from a one-man operation in 1930, the family-run company has developed into one of Europe's leading logistics service providers. In the industry today, it is regarded as a driver of innovation and a pioneer in the field of digital networking of logistics services.
We were particularly impressed by the control center at the heart of the warehouse, where everything comes together. This is where experienced employees coordinate the various trades, keep an eye on processes and are in close contact with the drivers. The close interlinking of overview, communication and responsibility highlights the central role of this area for smooth interaction in logistics.
The discussions with the employees on site were also valuable, as they gave us an insight into the processes and atmosphere in the company. We learned how different their paths into the company were and what development opportunities had opened up for them. Each story showed how diverse careers in logistics can be.
A big compliment therefore goes to the recruiting team at this point: with a great deal of intuition, they recognize who fits where and thus create the basis for strong teams and sustainable career paths. This is precisely where the company's strength lies: in a network of people who take responsibility together and shape the logistics of the future.
During the company visit, we also gained an impression of how broadly DACHSER SE is positioned. In addition to the warehouse, the DACHSER Food Logistics and DACHSER European Logistics divisions play a central and leading role at the Schönefeld site. DACHSER Food Logistics offers industry-specific logistics solutions for temperature-controlled, plus-temperature food - from ultra-fresh to ambient. DACHSER handles the temperature-controlled transportation of packaged foodstuffs in all consignment sizes and supplies retail companies, catering businesses, bulk consumer services and processing companies in the food industry with meat and sausage products, dairy products, wine and spirits, baked goods and confectionery, convenience products as well as delicatessen and nutrients from its Schönefeld site in Berlin, Brandenburg and throughout Europe.
DACHSER European Logistics complements this portfolio with solutions for European supply chain management. The comprehensive European overland transport network of system and charter transports supports companies in fulfilling logistics tasks reliably, on time and cost-efficiently. General cargo, full and part loads from the industrial and consumer goods sectors are transported, supplemented by procurement, distribution and flexible contract logistics solutions. Daily connections, precise transit times and intelligent IT solutions ensure planning reliability, transparency and the secure movement of goods along the entire supply chain.
During our visit, we were not yet able to take a closer look at these two areas, but we will definitely do so at an upcoming opportunity and will be happy to report back.
Our conclusion: logistics is neither a single process nor an AI that controls everything on its own. Logistics is a network of people who work together to achieve great things, and that is exactly what we see every day at DACHSER SE in Schönefeld. After our visit, we actually thought about changing jobs and becoming part of this dynamic team ourselves. DACHSER impressively demonstrates how attractive, meaningful and future-proof a career in logistics can be.
