We, GBM Gleisbaumechanik Brandenburg/H. GmbH, are a full-service provider of rail vehicles specialising in specialised, rail-bound work vehicles.
Alongside the challenges of increasing or ensuring the availability of existing fleets, the topic of e-mobility is also becoming an increasingly important focus for us. The aim here is to make work vehicles – which have hitherto been dominated by diesel – fit for the future by equipping them with alternative drive systems.
Rail vehicles have been built and maintained at our site in Brandenburg an der Havel, in the district of Kirchmöser, for over 100 years. More than 20 years ago, the former Deutsche Bahn specialist workshop was privatised and has since been part of General Atomics Europe, a group of companies based in Dresden.

As part of the rail industry, we are making a significant contribution to the transport transition in Germany and Europe. We are actively working on solutions with a sustainable impact on climate protection. Thanks to state-of-the-art technical solutions, the vehicles we manufacture from scratch or modernise contribute to climate and energy policy objectives and to the expansion of rail infrastructure in Europe.
This includes retrofitting the existing fleet with particulate filter systems and, as a first step, realising the full potential for energy savings. Looking to the future, we are focusing on climate-neutral propulsion concepts using carbon-free energy sources. We offer you bespoke solutions to optimally meet individual requirements across all areas of specialised rail vehicles and to provide the right rail vehicles. We offer the right solutions in the areas of vehicle construction, maintenance, modernisation and service.
Every employee at GBM Gleisbaumechanik can thus make their own contribution to the transport transition and climate protection.

Teamwork is a top priority for us. We support one another and provide regular, constructive feedback so that we can achieve our goals as a team. Nevertheless, every single employee also makes an important contribution to meeting deadlines and delivering top quality through their independent work – because this is what GBM Gleisbaumechanik is known for amongst its customers across Europe. This applies not only to our existing staff – every employee, whether a new recruit or a trainee, is integrated into our operations from day one and is seen and heard.
We currently have just under 200 employees in Kirchmöser and train apprentices to become mechatronics engineers every year.
